Dev Diary: February 2017 – Greybox to Game

I’ve been hard at work trying to nail the outdoor HUB area look and feel in Ergastulum.

This HUB area is important in setting the tone and to connect all the levels in the game together. To start with, this allowed the game to be out of those dungeons and placed in an outdoor environment.

I started to plot out the Greybox level in Blender and created the paths between in each level within each Crypt. In each Crypt there are shafts, lifts and stairs (not visible in the image below) that lead to a dungeon underground.

After testing and making sure all the scales are correct, I dropped it into Unity for to texture and light it up with the existing codebase I had for the dungeon levels:
